I gave blood for the first time last night, despite my insane phobia of needles! Lol, I actually nearly started hyperventilating once I was laying down and they were setting everything up. It didn’t help that I got the one nurse, that resembled Miss. Trunchbull from that Matilda film! Luckily she left shortly, and this other nurse came to take over from her. This nurse was absolutely lovely and she talked to me throughout the whole thing.
What’s most surprising is that it didn’t hurt in the slightest! Well .. It hurt a tiny bit when the needle went it, and again when it came out. Apart from that though, it was completely fine. Now I just can’t wait until I can give again in 16 weeks time!
The only downside was when I stood up from the bed, and had a really bad dizzy spell. But, but that’s to be expected when you lose a pint of blood! OH, and the fact I wasn’t allowed to exercise after it, or drink tea!!!! That was bad as well! :(
